The elephant in the room

I made two illustrations for an academic paper published by the Center for Intercultural Dialogue. The paper uses two elephant references to describe the state of the art in the research on intercultural dialogue: the elephant in the room and the parable of the blind men and the elephant.

To create the illustrations, I used a photo of an elephant taken by the author. The two illustrations echo each other using similar visual elements and feature the relevant quotes from the paper as central design components.
